There are 10 pools of various sizes and temperatures. Gellert Bath is open every day from 9 am to 7 pm, even on bank holidays, like May 1, August 20 or Christmas. Besides the outdoor wave pool (now known as the outdoor leisure pool), which is a big hit in summer months, there are several geothermal pools open to both men and women. Besides, you can get massage treatments: Gellert Spa Massage, enjoy the saunas, the sunbathing terrace looking at the Gellert Hill, and relax by the geothermal pools with some beer, wine, champagne.

Wave Pool (no waves currently!): Unfortunately, the almost hundred year old innovative wave pool machine has been in need of maintenance since 2019. Due to its special historical value and the complex nature of the machinery built in the 1920s, there is no set date when the waves will start running again in the pool. Therefore the outdoor wave pool currently works as an open air pool (with no artificial waves generated), when the outdoor pool is in season (normally mid May to mid October, subject to weather in Budapest).

As Gellert Bath is one building with the spa hotel named Gellert Hotel, you can enjoy a fascinating holiday in one of the best spa hotels in Budapest, or simply enjoy the bath facilities as a bath visitor (Gellert Bath is open to all, adults, children, men, women, and all its areas are wheelchair accessible)

Fun: try the open-air leisure pool, and explore the labyrinth of the Art Nouveau palace revealing 8 artistic pools with naturally warm spring waters. Both Szechenyi Bath and Gellert Bath are a maze. We recommend getting your own Gellert Spa Map to aid your exploration.

  1. We are going to be in Budapest next year – January 20-28. Will the spa be open? Will the hotel? Is entry to the spa included if you stay at the hotel or is there a reduced rate for guests? Do you have a gym?

  2. Hallo,

We arrived Budapest Monday November 20 from California and we would like to come try your bath.

    Question for you.

What is the difference between GS cabin and GS locker?

How can we book bath and a 20 minute massage together, not all of us will need a massage.

    Thank you!

  3. Hello
Are the pools accessible for a limited mobility customer ? I can walk a little but needs help. Does the spa have a specialised wheelchair and loating device ?

    • Dear Constance,
      Thank you for your inquiry.
The thermal pool in the female only section can be accessed by wheelchair (directly from the main hall, without any raised areas or stairs that would hinder the way) and you can use the pool lift to immerse in the thermal spa waters. It is just called female only but the bath is coed now.
Currently, the main pool can also be used with a lift, but there are three stairs where help is needed.
The garden and outdoor areas are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible at the moment, but the baths are working on turning Gellert Spa into a truly accessible bath complex in the future.
Have a nice time in Budapest!

        Good evening!
My mom also has mobility difficulties, so I would like to confirm that the access to the main pool are only 3 steps (easy to climb with help) or 3 flight of stairs (impossible for her to climb!).
        Best regards,
        Isabella

Hello Is it possible to take a one year old to Gellert Baths?

    • Dear Sarah,
Thank you for checking before visiting Gellert Baths.
The bath entry is free for children under 2 years old but older children have to pay full prices tickets.
Babies who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools, even if they are wearing a swimming nappy. It mostly applies to children under the age of 3.
Babies and toddlers can come with the family to the Spa but need to stay outside the pool area with somebody.
The thermal baths were and are still aimed at adult bathers, therefore there are no kid’s pools or activities.
Most of the outdoor and indoor pools and baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, which means increased stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters, therefore saunas and hot pools are not healthy for children under 14.

  5. I see that you have lounge chairs and umbrellas by the wave pool. Can I reserve one for our visit. I’m traveling with my 90 year old mother and she needs a seat and umbrella. Thank you and please advise on how to reserve if possible
