If you are pregnant and planning to visit one of the Széchenyi, Gellért or Rudas Baths in Budapest, please read the following information before making a purchase or booking a massage, as massage is not offered in the thermal baths during pregnancy.
Pregnancy Massage at Mandala Spa Bath Budapest
Although Thermal Baths in Budapest do not offer pregnancy massages within the thermal baths, there are outstanding spa facilities in the city where you can arrange a delightful experience for a pregnant woman. We suggest Mandala Spa Bath Budapest for a relaxing and indulgent pregnancy massage.
Safety Considerations
Unfortunately, most pools contain hot water (between 33 and 40 degrees) which is not recommended for ladies who are expecting a child. As for the massages, none of the thermal baths in Budapest offer pregnancy massages. The reason behind this is to prevent any potential medical complications that may happen. Even if you are perfectly healthy and so is your baby, the bath management will not take the risk of unexpected complications / urgent resolutions to keep you and your baby safe from harm. We are terribly sorry, but your and your baby’s health come first.
In short, massage treatments are not available for pregnant moms in the Thermal Baths of Budapest, while hot thermal water is not suitable and therefore not recommended for pregnant moms.
Important Health Guidelines
During pregnancy please keep consulting with your doctor whenever you intend to visit public baths, shared pools. Pregnant women are kindly asked to consult with their doctor /OBGYN if they can bathe in the thermal waters in Budapest too, and what – if any – precautions they need to make before entering the pools.
All visit to the baths and its facilities are at the responsibility of visitors, including pregnant mothers. We apologise for any potential inconvenience.
Hi,
Can I still access the baths with my partner but don’t get in the water? Or just sit around the edges if pregnant?
Thanks
Hello Michelle,
yes, you can go with your husband. Pregnant women are kindly asked to consult with their doctor / OBGYN if they can bathe in the thermal waters.
Also, there are several pools in the baths which contain hot water (between 33 and 40 degrees Celsius, the upper end of which, is not recommended for pregnant mothers. You might try some cooler pools.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!
