Many tourists in Budapest choose to visit the thermal baths in Budapest and are wondering about whether half day or short time (2-3 hours) tickets are available to purchase online or on the spot.
Unfortunately, part day or half day tickets are not on sale, however, it does not mean that you either need to stay all day at the baths or need to buy an expensive bath ticket. There are some alternative options that may help you to save on the bath entry costs.
Good Morning Early Riser Bath Entry at Szechenyi Bath
One of the best budget options is the ‘Good morning Budapest‘ ticket that is sold on the spot: you can only buy them offline, at the cashier between 7 am and 9 am every weekday (from Monday to Friday) and enter with it by 9 am. This value ticket is not available for purchase after 9 am or on Saturday and Sunday. If your trip is for the weekend, the cheapest option is to buy a ticket with a locker, also on the spot. With the Good Morning Ticket you can stay for the whole day, however you can only enter once with one entry (there is no option to leave the Baths and return in a few hours again with the same ticket as a repeated visit would require the purchase of another ticket).
Weekday Tickets with a Locker at Budapest Baths
The entry to Szechenyi Bath is slightly cheaper on weekdays (Monday – Thursday are considered weekdays while Fridays – Sundays are weekends when it comes to Budapest thermal bath reservation). If you wish to shave off some Euros from the ticket price you can purchase your weekday ticket on the spot (subject to availability). Alternatively, you can buy your bath ticket online (the inclusions are enlisted in the booking form) to secure your place in the spa for a given day. Please note that national holidays are not weekdays, and some of the weekdays near national holidays are re-scheduled as holidays. If in doubt, please inquire via email or on the spot.
Lesser Known Thermal Baths in Budapest
When it comes to the iconic thermal baths in Budapest, Széchenyi and Gellért Baths are undoubtedly the most famous. However, don’t overlook the charm of other less known like Lukács and Rudas Baths, which are also worth exploring during your visit.
Rudas Bath weekday tickets (valid to all zones in the baths) are under €30 per person in 2024, while weekend bath entries are around €30. Likewise, Lukacs Bath weekday and weekend entries are similarly priced and offer a lovely thermal bath experience. We would encourage first time visitors to try one or possibly two of the thermal baths for a more versatile spa time in Budapest as no two baths can be compared and each bath has its own unique strength.

Night visits in Budapest Baths
For instance, every Satruday night, Szechenyi Bath offers a spa party, which is basically a 2 in 1 party and bath ticket (with no other services open though, so no massage or beer bath can be used at night).
Also, Rudas Bath by the river Danube in Budapest offers a night bathing at an affordable price (bathing only, no spa bath party) on Friday and Saturday nights. At the moment the night bath entries cost approx. €35 per person and are valid between 10 pm at night until 3 am in the morning. If you decide to enjoy the warm thermal waters during the night hours, make sure to order a reliable taxi service to get back to your accommodation with a peace of mind.
