Cabin vs Locker – What is the Difference Between Cabins and Lockers?

There are different prices of entry for tickets with lockers and tickets with private cabins. But what is a cabin in all of the major Baths of Budapest, and what is a locker? It is good to know that there are no plain tickets without a locker or a cabin (except for the special bath tour tickets, which entitle visitors to have a short 15 minute bath tour for example in Szechenyi Baths, or in Gellert Spa).

Both lockers and cabins are for storing your valuables while you are enjoying the indoor baths and outdoor pools. Lockers are standard wardrobe type boxes with a lock on them (like the ones at train stations). The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm).

Cabins, on the other hand, are smallish cubicles or changing rooms combined with storage facilities, that is you leave your stuff there. In a bath cabin, you can get changed privately AND store your items in a safe place.

The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, but it will do for a couple, a family or even a small group. Bath entries with cabin use (or more precisely, cabin hire) are more expensive than simple lockers. If you buy tickets with lockers, you will have to get changed in the women-only / men-only public changing rooms, and then store your belongings in the lockers. If you wish to have your own privacy or are shy, cabins are definitely an ideal solution. Regular swimming pool goers will be fine with the lockers we assume.

  1. Hi , we decide to visit the bath as a couple . But need to check can a couple share a cabin ? Or both of us have to buy tickets with private cabin ? What do you suggest ?

    • Hello Irene,

      Thank you for contacting us.

The cabins are small changing cubicles, they can be used by one person at the time. You can purchase one ticket with a cabin and one ticket with a locker and take turns to get changed in the cabin. You can also use the cabin as storage while you are in the pools.

Have a lovely time visiting the Baths in Budapest!

  2. I have booked tickets with lockers for next week when we visit from England, we’re only in Budapest for a few days but have lots planned so we were wanting to enter the thermal baths around 3pm, will we be allowed access or are we only allowed in at entry time? Many thanks

    • Hello Niamh,
      Thank you for choosing us.
You might enter anytime after 9 am and before 5.30pm with your tickets.
Have a nice time in Budapest!

      • I booked 2 tickets for the baths, payment was taken, got confirmation email but no follow up email with qr entry codes.

  3. Hi me and 3 friends want to visit the baths on May. We will be checking out of our accommodation and fighting home so when we visit we will have our luggage.
What is best to book. 1 cabin and 3 lockers? What do you suggest. Are the lockers and the cabins near.

    • Hello Rachel,
Yes, we recommend a ticket with cabins for you.
Please see more info and a picture on:
      http://szechenyispabaths.com/szechenyi-bath-cabin/
You can leave your luggage in the cabin provided (the cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave there the 20 kg suitcase as well – if it is a regular size- along with your handbags etc.).
It might be too small for 4 luggages, therefore we suggest you take at least 2 tickets with Cabins and 2 with lockers.
The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, so if you are a couple it might seem a bit tight, but you can take turns in getting changed.
At the moment the online cabin tickets are sold for €39 while locker entires for €37 per person. You could buy 2x locker tickets and 2x with cabins in 2 separate transactions. .
We recommend you check if you have high transaction fees on your credit card as you could be charged more for the additional transaction than the actual price difference (2x €2).
Have a relaxing holiday in Budapest!
