There are different prices of entry for tickets with lockers and tickets with private cabins. But what is a cabin in all of the major Baths of Budapest, and what is a locker? It is good to know that there are no plain tickets without a locker or a cabin (except for the special bath tour tickets, which entitle visitors to have a short 15 minute bath tour for example in Szechenyi Baths, or in Gellert Spa).
Both lockers and cabins are for storing your valuables while you are enjoying the indoor baths and outdoor pools. Lockers are standard wardrobe type boxes with a lock on them (like the ones at train stations). The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm).
Cabins, on the other hand, are smallish cubicles or changing rooms combined with storage facilities, that is you leave your stuff there. In a bath cabin, you can get changed privately AND store your items in a safe place.
The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, but it will do for a couple, a family or even a small group. Bath entries with cabin use (or more precisely, cabin hire) are more expensive than simple lockers. If you buy tickets with lockers, you will have to get changed in the women-only / men-only public changing rooms, and then store your belongings in the lockers. If you wish to have your own privacy or are shy, cabins are definitely an ideal solution. Regular swimming pool goers will be fine with the lockers we assume.
Buna ziua .
Are the cabins able to be rented for my spouse and i and would they house 2 large suitcases and two small backpacks?
Hello Nicole,
we suggest the tickets with cabins for you.
The cabin is like a tiny room, or cubicle, which can store a standard check-in suitcase easily.
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave there the 20 kg suitcase as well ( if it is a regular size) along with your jackets etc.
The door of the cabin has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the times, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.
The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm)., so it would be too small for your bags.
The lockers are also opened and closed by your wristband.
Enjoy your stay in Budapest!
Hi, my friend and I would like to visit the Lukacs bath on 2th Jan 2020 in the morning. Since it is directly after New Year’s, would it be too crowded? We will most likely purchase the budapest card. Does the card come with the locker access? And if we would like to book a cabin, should we book in advance or can we book on the day itself? Thank you for your help!
Hi Sija,
Fast Track Tickets are not sold during the festive season (between Dec 24, 2019, and 7 Jan 2020) based on a managerial decision.
You can purchase the tickets on the spot at the cashier. We kindly recommend showing up early, possibly between 6 am and 8 am, at the bath, because tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
Please find more details, advice and other thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec
The discounts you can get at Spa’s when you have a Budapest card are:
Gellert Spa: 20% discount on the thermal spa tickets in Gellert Spa Baths (not the spa treatments)
Szechenyi Bath: 20% discount on the thermal spa tickets in Szechenyi Baths (not the spa treatments)
Rudas Baths, Turkish Thermal (Rudas Furdo): 20% discount on the Rudas bath tickets
You can purchase the Budapest cards here: http://budapestcards.com
Thank you for your kind cooperation. We wish you a wonderful bath experience in Budapest!
Hi there, how do I make a reservation for 2 pax, but with 1 cabin?
Hello Fiona,
all tickets are sold with some kind of storage: Cabins or Lockers.
You can save a few Euros if you book 1 ticket with cabin and 1 with a locker, and you can share the cabin. Also, if you plan your bath visit on a weekday, you will get your tickets to the thermal baths at a cheaper price (and there will be fewer guests, shorter queues too).
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, they can accommodate 1 person comfortably.
So you would need to take turns to get changed, as the cabins are too small for 2 guests. Have a nice stay in Budapest!
With the Budapest card, do we need to make a reservation or can we just walk into Lukas Bath anytime? Planning to go Thursday 6/27 in the afternoon. How close are the nearby places to have supper before we head back to hotel?
Hello Mary Anne, you can simply walk in to Lukacs Baths with your Budapest card (http://budapestcards.com/ which is valid for a single visit), there is no need to make an online booking for Lukacs Baths as it is a drop in entry any time between the opening hours (make sure to check in at least 1 hour before the thermal bath closes).
Nearby options to have a nice lunch would be within approx. 10 min walk from Lukacs Thermal Baths:
Tommy di Napoli for Italian flavours offer great dishes in a nice atmosphere
or in Margit Street you will find a Hungarian style traditional inn with some nice local meals and often live Gypsy music
or Pata Negra offers Spanish foods
Barako for a good coffee, or Dolcissima (or Sutit akarok) cake shop for some confectionary are all in the vicinity of the hot spring baths.
Have the best of your Budapest holiday!
