Booking a Wellness Massage: Important Considerations
A wellness massage is a relaxing and revitalizing experience designed for individuals in good health. However, due to the physical effects of massage and its combination with other wellness services, such as visits to a Budapest spa or a thermal bath, certain health conditions may make massage unsuitable. Please be aware that if a reservation is paid for but a relevant health condition is present at the time of booking, the service fee will not be refunded, and the massage will be forfeited. To ensure your safety and well-being, please review the following guidelines before booking your massage appointment.
When to Avoid Booking a Massage
Massage is not recommended if you have any of the following conditions: fever, infectious diseases, acute inflammations (e.g., throat, joints, muscles, skin), heart problems such as a recent heart attack, untreated high blood pressure, or a pacemaker. Those recovering from deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, recent surgeries, or cancer treatment within the past five years should also refrain from massage.
This is because massage stimulates blood circulation, which could dislodge blood clots, increase swelling, or disrupt the healing process after surgery. For individuals recovering from cancer treatment, the body may still be fragile or in a weakened state, making massage potentially harmful. It’s essential to wait until full recovery and obtain approval from a healthcare provider before considering a massage.
Other contraindications include skin disorders, open wounds, severe osteoporosis, advanced internal diseases, chronic inflammatory conditions, unknown-origin headaches, lymphedema, pregnancy, and menstruation/being in the monthly period.
Why Massage Isn’t Recommended During Your Period
During your monthly period, your body goes through many changes. A massage increases blood circulation, which could make your period heavier and cause more cramping. It might also make you feel more sensitive, as your body can be more tender during this time. It’s better to wait until after your period, so you can enjoy a massage without any added discomfort.
Important Notice About Payments: Non-Refundable Cases
If you have any of the conditions listed above or are undergoing related medical treatment, it is your responsibility to inform the massage therapist before the session begins. The therapist reserves the right to decline or discontinue the massage if they determine it would be unsafe for you. Please note that in such cases, service fees are non-refundable. This policy ensures a safe and beneficial experience for all clients while maintaining professional and health standards.
Visiting a Budapest thermal bath can also complement your wellness routine when done safely and with proper guidance.
House Rules and Compliance
These guidelines are based on the VSZ-21 House Rules for the Use of Steam Baths, Hot Tubs, Thermal Baths, Indoor Swimming Pools, and Beach Baths, issued in 2024. Visitors are required to stay informed of the most up-to-date house rules and adhere to them when visiting any thermal bath facility in Budapest. Compliance with these rules ensures a safe and pleasant experience for all guests.
Please note that the baths reserve the right to modify these rules at any time without prior notice.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
